BUDDING READERS is a local non-profit organization. We have partnered with the Finger Lakes WIC office in Canandaigua for more than 10 years providing free books to children receiving WIC services. The pandemic has made it very difficult to continue this activity.

However, we NOW have two ways that you can receive free books for your children, even though WIC business is being carried out by phone. Those two ways are described below.

Questions about the free books, please call Tam at Budding Readers: 585-900-1725.

Method 1

This option is open to anyone who receives services through the Canandaigua WIC office, regardless of where you live.

Budding Readers volunteers will be in the Canandaigua WIC office during the dates and times below.

Stop by and you can go home with two books per child.  Can you come more than once? YES!

Thursday, January 12 – 11:00 am – 1:30 pm

Friday, January 27 – 12:30 – 3:00 pm

Tuesday, February 7 – 12:30 – 3:00 pm

Friday, February 24 – 11:00 – 1:30 pm

Wednesday, March 8 – 1:00 – 3:30 pm

Monday, March 27 – 11:00 am – 1:30 pm

Friday, April 14 – 11:00 am – 1:30 pm

Monday, April 24 – 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Method 2

This method of getting books is restricted by both age and where you live, however it will still be a fit for many.

If you have a baby 36 months of age or younger AND you live in one of the school district communities below, you can request a free bundle of books for your baby. After you complete the request form, one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time to deliver your bundle of books.

The eligible school district communities are:

Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Honeoye, Marcus Whitman, Midlakes, Naples, Red Jacket, and Victor.

Can you stop by the office on the designated dates to pick up books AND request a bundle of books? YES!
