Flower City School 54 is an elementary school within the Rochester City School District. The school is located in one of the poorer areas of Rochester, with all children eligible for free lunch and breakfast. Two of our Budding Readers Board members have volunteered at the school for the last several years and have brought the school to our attention.
Budding Readers gifts a book to take home at least once per year for each UPK, Kindergarten and First Grade child in each of the 8 Ontario Country School Districts that we work with. For the last couple years we have done the same for the children at School 54. In 2024, we made it official and “adopted” School 54 to insure that as long as we are able to gift books to UPK, Kindergarten and First Grade children in the 8 Ontario County districts, we will do the same for School 54!
